Religious Education Program

June 2019

Dear Families,

Welcome to the St. Matthias Religious Education Program!  Whether you have been with us before or are new to the program, we are happy to have you.  Together we work to fulfill our baptismal promises to raise all our children in the Catholic faith.

Children should begin Religious Education as a first grader, but we welcome children at any point along the way.  Once in the program, we ask that your children stay with us through until Confirmation.  First and foremost, attending from 1st through 8th grades gives your children a solid foundation in the faith.  At the appropriate times is preparation for the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation.  Weekly mass attendance, family prayer, and commitment to service are integral parts of the program and foundational in our lives as Catholics.

Classes for the 2019-2020 school year begin on Sunday, September 8th at 9am.  Classes meet on Sunday mornings from 9-10:15am in the school.  Tuition must be paid in full at the time of registration ($175/child per year).  We also require a copy of each child’s baptism certificate on file.  There will be a $50 late fee applied for registrations received after September 1st.

Sacramental Information:

First Reconciliation and First Communion – These sacraments are for students in second grade and older and who have attended at least two years of Religious Education.  There may be some additional classes, as well as required parent meetings and retreats.

Confirmation – This is a consecutive 2-year program, beginning no earlier than 7th grade.  All students must complete the 2-year process, regardless of when they begin classes.

It is our privilege to work with you and your children as together we help them grow in their knowledge and practice of our faith.  Thank you for making your child’s religious education and faith formation a priority!

We look forward to seeing you for class in the fall, and we will see you at mass over the summer!

God bless you and your families,

Fr. Larry McNally, Pastor
